John Fury demands David Haye is pulled from Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte broadcast – Ring News 24 | Boxing News

The father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury 31-0-1 (22) has demanded that David Haye be removed from the broadcast team for his son’s upcoming fight against Dillian Whyte 28-2 (19) at Wembley Stadium in London, England on April 23.

Retired former cruiserweight world champion Haye is part of the commentary team for the BT Sport pay-per-view but John Fury is insisting he take no place in the broadcast.

It comes after Haye told talkSPORT this week that the 34-year-old Whyte is capable of defeating Fury, 33.

“The type of opponent that you’d need to beat Tyson Fury – Dillian Whyte has all of those attributes,” Haye said.

“He can punch hard, he’s got cardio for days, he’s got the desire and belief in himself. I think Whyte is going to pull off the upset. I think this is his opportunity. I think this is what he’s been waiting for.

“This happened at the right time for him and I think the fact that Tyson Fury’s so highly regarded by everybody works in Dillian’s favour. So I’m going with the unpopular underdog.”

The comments might seem harmless enough, but Haye and the Fury family have history. Haye was scheduled to face Fury in 2013 and 2014 but a cut and a shoulder injuiry forced him to withdraw from both bouts.

He has since tipped other boxers to defeat Fury, a stance that John Fury believes makes him a “hater”.

“David Haye is not allowed to comment on that show,” John Fury said to talkSPORT. “David Haye needs to take a back seat in the stands where nobody can see him.

“I’ve already made it quite clear to Frank Warren – he is not allowed to be commentating on my son’s fight, otherwise there will be a problem.

“That’s black and white, the nation can hear me. He’s a hater, I don’t want him near my family, that’s the bottom line. They know me, BT, and I will not be silent if he’s there.”
