Dillian Whyte has claimed that Tyson Fury was allowed to get away with foul tactics in their heavyweight title fight on Saturday night.
Fury 32-0-1 (23) defeated Whyte 28-3 (19) by sixth-round knockout at London’s Wembley Stadium with a big right uppercut.
There was a clash of heads in the fourth round that caused a cut of Whyte’s right eye.
At the time of the stoppage the scores were 49-46, 48-47 and 50-45, all for Fury.
“I was buzzed but obviously I was trying to regather my senses and he proper pushed me and I fell over and hit my head on the canvas, which is illegal,” Whyte told Sky Sports.
“This isn’t wrestling, this is boxing. I should have been allowed extra time to recover and then carried on fighting.
“I got caught, no doubt about it. I got caught by a good shot. I was hurt, I was trying to get my senses together and he full on, two-handed pushed me. It wasn’t like a one-armed thing.
“I should have had time to recover, time to go back to my corner, but Tyson Fury gets away with a lot of things.
“He kept on leaning down to the side and putting the head in and stuff like that.
“He leans down and he put the head in, he clashed with me and I got the cut and obviously the ref started telling me off.
“The fight spiralled a bit, until he started punching me in the back of the head. I started doing it to him and then his corner started throwing water and stuff like that, which was a bit crazy.
“I kept on getting all the blame. He was the one that was holding, he was the one that was headbutting and being dirty in the fight.”
After the fight Fury hinted that retirement may be next, but also left the door open to a hybrid fight against UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who joined him in the ring after the victory.
“This might be the final curtain for the Gypsy King,” he said. “And what a way to go out. I’ve won every belt there is to win, there’s nothing more I can do, I’ve won every belt in the game.
“If this was a computer game it would definitely be completed for sure.
“I want to have fun. I’m an entertainer and it’s what I do best. Big Francis Ngannou is on my hit list in an exhibition fight.
“However he wants it, in a cage, in a ring, with boxing gloves or UFC gloves, we can make it happen. He is a monster of a guy and so am I, so it will be a clash of the titans.
“This is going to be one very special fight like never before seen in the history of our sport.
“It’s going to be an explosive fight when it happens.”
