Dave Allen is one of the most popular fighters in the UK. Endearingly honest, extremely tough and a decent fighter to boot. The 29-year-old has lost just five times in 26, and those defeats have all been against top heavyweights like Luis Ortiz, Dillian Whyte and David Price.
A pro since 2012, the pinnacle of Dave’s career to date are a couple of unsuccessful shots at the Commonwealth Title but the Conisbrough man isn’t finished yet.
After a break from the sport, ‘The White Rhino’ now has a brace of wins under his belt and headlines at Newcastle’s Hilton Hotel on Saturday March 19 LIVE on Fightzone against Bulgaria’s Milen Paunov. The East European, who has won five of 13, is lined up to give the returning Yorkshireman some rounds but, in heavyweight boxing, every fighter is just one punch away from an upset.
Still a big name and always a big draw, there are potentially some huge fights out there for Allen amongst the world’s big-men but the Fight Academy man knows he cannot afford any slip ups. Also on the bill on what will be a feverish night in front of the Northeast fans is Tommy ‘The Hitman’ Hodgson, 4-0, from North Shields, who will make his first appearance as a pro in his local city.
Anthony Ornsby, 5-1, from nearby Wallsend will also be looking for a win in front of his home crowd. First-timers make up the rest of the bill with debuts for Doncaster’s Harrison Hobson, Newcastle’s Kai Richmond and Sunderland-based Pole Ryszard Lewicki.
