Craig Derbyshire is undaunted by his underdog status as he heads into the biggest duel of his career.
On Sunday April 3, Derbyshire will challenge Tommy Frank for his British Flyweight Title at the Rotherham Magna Centre – LIVE on Fightzone.
The odds are stacked against him in this one but the Doncaster man remains unfazed. Tommy – from Sheffield – already holds a 2018 win over his Yorkshire rival in a Central Area Title clash, and Craig’s 8-28-3 (2) record doesn’t look impressive, on paper.
On closer inspection though, the 30-year-old has the experience of sharing a ring with the better opposition, including Sunny and Charlie Edwards, has spent most of his career fighting in the away corner, and is currently in red hot form.
‘Dynamite’ has won three of his last four and heads into the contest as the English Super Flyweight king after upsetting the odds to beat star amateur and unbeaten pro, Joe Maphosa, in September last year.
Despite being in the away corner again on April 3rd, Craig will be turning up for this one with his mind firmly on causing another huge upset and leaving the ring with a huge, and life-changing, prize.
Fight Academy present an evening of boxing at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on Sunday April 3 headlined by British Flyweight Champion Tommy Frank defending his title against Doncaster’s Craig Derbyshire.
The undercard will feature Sheffield’s Keanen Wainwright; Leeds’ Billy Pickles and Reece Cartwright; Grimsby’s Levi Giles; Wolverhampton’s Katie Healy; Barnsley’s Matty Heppenstall; France’s Ismael Francois and debutant Danny Hall.
