Eddie Hearn labels George Kambosos “delusional”, says Devin Haney is ready to fight – Ring News 24 | Boxing News

Promoter Eddie Hearn says WBC lightweight champion Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney 27-0 (15) is ready, willing and able to travel to Australia to face WBA, WBO, IBF and WBC Franchise champion George ‘Ferocious’ Kambosos Jr 20-0 (10).

American Haney, 23, has been angling for a shot at Kambosos ever since the 28-year-old Australian surprised the oddsmakers to claim four world championship belts from Teofimo ‘The Takeover’ Lopez 16-1 (12) at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden last November.

Kambosos has made it clear he wants his first title defence to be a stadium fight in his homeland. He is also adamant he won’t be looking for a soft touch, with both Haney and former multi-weight world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko 16-2 (11) in the mix to land the plum assignment.

Hearn, who has promoted Kambosos’ last two bouts, talked about the proposed match-up on The DAZN Boxing Show and couldn’t resist the opportunity to throw a little shade Kambosos’ way.

“I was with Devin last night. We can’t make it any clearer. Cut the rubbish, we will do whatever it takes to make that fight,” the Matchroom Boxing boss said.

“I said that to both people. George Kambosos right now is slightly delusional about the money he thinks he should make. That’s the case for all fighters. If you want legacy, if you want undisputed – Devin is on board. My message to the Kambosos team is whatever it takes, we will be there.

“We need this fight for the undisputed. Devin will fight in Kambosos’ backyard to fight for the undisputed championship.

“We haven’t had a deal offered to us so far. Call our bluff. Make that offer and we’ll be on the plane.

“If you want it, you’ve got to go and get it. If you’re Devin and you flew to Australia and dethroned the ‘Emperor’, you’d become a superstar overnight.”

Earlier this week Kambosos discussed the situation with AAP.

“I don’t have a preference on which I want to fight, I would fight them both on the same night if I had to,” he said.

“It’s about who comes in with the better offer. The ball is in their court to step up to the table and show how much they want this fight.

“I’ve got all the belts and all the jewels so they have got to travel here.”

Kambosos insisted he doesn’t need a tune-up fight before his next bout.

“I’m in great condition, I don’t need one,” he said.

“I’m not here to fool the Australian public. Even this last year they have been fooled and ripped off enough with certain fights.

“I’ve brought these belts back and I’m the hottest name in the boxing world.

“I’ve reached the top of the mountain and now there’s another mountain to climb.”
